You are breaking the law and are subject to fine and a possible suspension of your driver’s license.
It is even more serious if you are involved in an accident while you are uninsured. Penalties include:
- a one-year mandatory license suspension.
- Insurance agents are required to report any person without insurance who has been in an automobile accident to the Motor Vehicle Division.
- You can be personally liable for any injury or damage caused by your negligence, and lose your license until you pay the court judgment.
