Dan Rayfield is one of our leading Oregon trial attorneys. Since 2012, Mr. Rayfield has been annually nominated by his peers and selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Rising Star” in Oregon. Less than 2.5 percent of attorneys under forty are selected for this distinction.
A product of the Oregon public school system, Mr. Rayfield graduated from Western Oregon University in 2003 and Willamette University College of Law in 2006. In 2005, prior to his law school graduation, he clerked for the Benton County District Attorney’s office. During his time at the District Attorney’s office he gained his first trial experience prosecuting DUIs and other misdemeanor charges.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Rayfield began his legal career with the law firm of Weatherford Thompson in Albany, Oregon. His practice initially focused on general civil litigation but shifted towards representing individuals with insurance claims. His current practice focuses entirely on helping his clients with malpractice, civil rights, and personal injury claims against insurance companies and large corporations.
In 2007, Mr. Rayfield’s passion for protecting individual rights took center stage while representing several individuals that were falsely arrested by a local police officer. This case made statewide news and eventually led to the officer’s resignation. Since that time, Mr. Rayfield has developed a niche specializing in civil rights cases. Mr. Rayfield has successfully handled civil rights cases against numerous counties, cities, and the State of Oregon. He firmly believes that our civil justice system is a check and balance against those that choose to violate the constitutional rights of others.
